NYC with Mama Bear and Sister Bear

Good afternoon!

I am just relaxing this Sunday night after returning from New York City where I was with my mom and sister, celebrating my momma's 50th birthday that is coming up :)

We had an amazing time, it was the first time just the three of us have gone away and it was awesome!!

It was such a busy weekend and we saw a lot! Here are some highlights from the trip, if anyone needs suggestions or an itinerary- let me know :)

  • New York Public Library- gorgeous! breathtaking!
  • Grand Central Station
  • "Top of the Rock"-Rockefeller Centre
  • THE FOOD!!!

A little more on that last point, we all love to eat so this was the perfect city to go to! We ate like kings, and because all of the restaurants we went to were so fresh- we didn't feel sluggish or sick the whole weekend! Even with all the wine we enjoyed! haha

Here are some restaurants we checked out:
  • Eataly by Mario Batali -by far my favourite experience of the trip, will go back to NYC just to go back here.. amazing food, amazing wine, amazing atmosphere.
  • Food Hall by Todd English (Concourse Level of the Plaza Hotel) -delish! so fresh! great atmosphere and basically any kind of food you could ever want -pizza, sushi, pasta, seafood, etc. etc.
  • Mercato in Hell's Kitchen -very small, very quaint, great rustic feel and delish authentic Italian Food, homemade pastas, breads.. I was drinking the leftover tomato sauce, literally.
  • The Hurricane Club -Hawaii meets New York! The decor is palm trees, the atmosphere is "party" and the food is steak and seafood- amazing experience, fabulous service, awesome food and the tastiest drinks!

We stayed at the Intercontinental Times Square- I would stay here again in a heart beat. It was clean, comfortable, big rooms, great service and an awesome location, on a quieter street just steps away from Times Square and Broadway!

Overall it was just such a great experience, check out our experience here in this short slideshow I made of some of our memories...

Turning Over an Old New Leaf

Good morning!

So over the last few weeks I haven't been the healthiest and haven't been working out even half as much as I normally do. I am not even sure why- just laziness! Because of this I have felt so sluggish and yucky. Usually at this time of year I kick start a more regular running program, but with winter holding on so tightly it has been hard to get out there! With an extremely busy month coming up (for work, and two trips-New York and Nashville) I knew I had to get back to my old habits fast so that I am feeling energized and healthy to take on life!

To kick start- this morning I started a bootcamp that a friend told me about called the Hourglass Workout. Here is the website: http://www.hourglassworkout.com/ It starts bright at early at 6:15am, day one was great, a lot of fun and definitely a good workout! I am excited to see what type of results I get!

I also made up some healthy treats last night to satisfy my sweet cravings, I got the recipe from one of my best friends who made them last week as well. Raw Maca Truffles! So yummy! Here is the link to the website: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-8209/raw-recipe-energy-boosting-maca-truffles.htm but I made mine slightly different. I started by making a cashew butter as my base (in my food processor), and added maple syrup instead of honey, added the cinnamon, sea salt and more than a dash of cayenne for a kick. Then I combined the maca and raw cocoa and slowly added this to the "butter" alternating with some water (ended up adding about 1/2 cup of water-ish). To make them cute I added a piece of cashew on top of each truffle- this also adds a nice CRUNCH!

Cheers to getting healthy, or at least to trying something new!

Get your boogie on

So I don't know about you but I LOVE a good solo dance party. I have been known to crank the music a little too loud, but you can't blame me for not wanting to hear my own voice, right?

My favourite tunes to shake my bootie to these days are..

Red Hands by Walk off The Earth
Gone, Gone, Gone by Philipp Philipps
Deja Vu by Mo Kenny
Stompa by Serena Ryder
Son of A Preacher Man- Dusty Springfield

Some oldies, some goodies.. And my boogie songs of choice at the moment!

Check em out and let me know what you think! What songs do you boogie down to?
